30 Jun 2003 - the HOMSIR project ended officially today. However, this website and the contact between project partners will be maintained. Most of the scientific results of the project will be published in a special volume of Fisheries Research in late 2004.

16 May 2003 - The final Homsir meeting was held at the Instituto Espanol Oceanografia in Sta. Cruz de Tenerife, the Canary Islands, Spain. This first opportunity to compare all results of the different workpackages proved to be very useful, and some important conclusions on the stock identity and distribution limits of horse mackerel could be drawn. The report of the final meeting (and some photos!) will be available in the meetings section soon.

29 Mar 2003 - Finally an update: the final HOMSIR meeting is supposed to take place an the Canary Islands between 10th (or 11th) and 16th of May, 2003. agenda and travel information will be distributed soon (in the meetings section). The database is expected to be finalized by mid of April so that primary data examination could be finished prior to the meeting.

07 Feb 2002 - There appears to be a problem with the species identification of some specimens caught in the mediterranean in 2001: the following specimens obviously belong to a different species (Trachurus picturatus or Trachurus mediterraneus) and should be excluded from further processing and analysis:
Area 15: (15-01-) 14, 15, 32, 35, 41, 49, 51, 54, 57, 62, 64, 67, 68, 71, 74, 78, 83, 84, 85, 86, 88, 91, 93, 95, 96, 97.
Area 18: (18-01-) 58, 61, 63, 65, 66, 71, 76, 79, 80, 81, 84, 88

23 Dec 2001 - The 4th HOMSIR project meeting was held in Civitavecchia (not far from Viterbo and Rome), hosted by the Tuscia University, Department of Enviromental Science. The report is available in our meetings section.

30 Jul 2001 - The structure of the HOMSIR database is agreed (and can be downloaded as pdf-file, 11 kB, or zipped MS Excel file, 16 kB) and the database is in the process of being set up. It is intended to include all available data of the first sampling year prior to the fourth coordination meeting (late November). Partners are strongly encouraged to submit missing data as soon as possible, at the latest by beginning of November, to the co-ordinator.

12 May 2001 - The 3rd HOMSIR project meeting was held in Dublin Castle (Ireland), hosted by the Fisheries Research Centre of the Marine Institute (FRC-MI). The report is available online (see the meetings section).
